Kodak patent on digital cameras claims Apple infringes
Los Angeles Times reports, Kodak claims that their digital image preview is entirely theirs according to their digital camera patent. That means that for every Apple iPhone and Blackberry that gets sold Kodak wants to garner royalties.
Hard to remember Kodak so far behind and out of sight of the limelight in the race of new technology being introduced by the likes of Apple and Research in Motion- maker of the famed Blackberry. Both companies known to create a cult following amongst young teens, college age adults, and the career minded may be put in check by Eastman Kodak Co., if their case wins.
This case could significantly slow down their phone sales if a settlement is not reached with the International Trade Commission. Based on intellectual property alone, Kodak estimates they will average $300 million a year for years to come. Additionally, Apple has a patent claim filing with the International Trade Commision against Kodak. This most likely will hurt Research in Motion more.
Reaction from the investing public of Apple (symbol: AAPL) seems unaffected. This is probably due to the overwhelmingly significant release of Apple TV and their announcement to sell 99 cent TV shows new and archived.
