Hot off the press, Panasonic USA has just announced information about two new exciting digital cameras, the Lumix DMC-FZ47 and DMC-LS5. While both are aimed at different crowds, each model has a lot to offer.
Starting with the DMC-FZ47 (which replaces the popular DMC-FZ40), Panasonic has taken their proven FZ-series platform to the next level, with all of the latest and greatest technologies one would expect to find on a 2011 digicam. These include a fast 12-megapixel CCD image sensor mated to a powerful 24x LEICA optical zoom lens, which covers a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 25 – 600mm. If that wasn’t already enough to get you drooling, the camera can shoot at up to 3.7fps at full res, or up to 10fps at 3-megapixels. Other key features include a 3.0-inch LCD screen, POWER O.I.S. stabilization system, 1080i HD video recording, and plethora of shooting modes and creative effects. Another new addition is Panasonic’s new social media uploader, which allows you to easily share photos and videos to your YouTube or Facebook account once you plug the camera into you PC. Next up we have the entry-level Lumix DMC-LS5. Panasnoic’s LS-series has been around for some time now, and focuses on ease of use, size, and price. The LS5 is no exception, offering 14-megapixels, 720p HD video capture, a 5x LEICA zoom lens (fast F/2.8 max. aperture), optical image stabilization, a 2.7-inch LCD, and AA power source. All this is packed into a petite shell, that can fit into the smallest of pockets. Pricing is to be announced, but we’re betting this one will be quite affordable.
