It’s hard to comprehend just how many pictures get uploaded to Flickr every day. We hear that uploads are somewhere over a million a day but trying to visualize just what that means is another.
Erik Kessels has created an art exhibit that shows exactly what that glut of photos looks like. He’s filled Foam exhibition space in Amsterdam with all the photos that were uploaded to Flickr over one particular 24 hour period. That’s over one million photographs and the result is overwhelming.
“We’re exposed to an overload of images nowadays,” says Kessels. “By printing all the images uploaded in a 24-hour period, I visualise the feeling of drowning in representations of other peoples’ experiences.”
