The law of supply and demand is simple. As supply goes up, demand goes down. As supply goes down, demand goes up. It’s the very economic foundation that allows people to sell old video games, Super Bowl tickets and collectibles at far higher than the actual worth of the item.
Thanks to flooding in Thailand that damaged Sony plants, the supply of NEX-7 cameras is incredibly low. As such, the demand for the cameras has increased. Demand is so high, in fact, that prices on eBay have gotten ridiculous.
Just how ridiculous? People are willing to pay as much as $ 3,700 for a NEX-7 body. That’s three times the price that the camera normally sells for.
If you want to pick up a NEX-7, you may have to wait for a bit. If you own a NEX-7, you may want to consider a visit to eBay.
