Olympus Announces the 75mm f/1.8 High-Grade Portrait Lens

MZuiko_75mm_f18.jpgThe 75mm f/1.8 lens announced by Olympus today is made for portrait photography, but also for those lighting conditions that would leave other lenses wanting. It’s a high-speed lens and Olympus says that it’s perfect for a variety of purposes, including portraits, stage, and indoor sports photography.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm f/1.8 uses 10 lens elements in 9 groups and includes a total of three Extra-low Dispersion elements. All of the elements are coated with ZUIKO Extra-low Reflection Optical Coating (ZERO) to keep reflections to a bare minimum.

Aside from the technical aspects, there’s something to be said for the look of the lens. The metal body is just plain slick looking and it comes in at just 2.7″; so it’s nice and compact.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 75mm f/1.8 is designed for use with their Micro Four Thirds cameras, like the new OM-D EM-5 or E-P3, and is scheduled to start shipping this summer at a price of $ 899 USD.
