A Steve’s Quick Look: Four Android Camera-Phones from LG

G2X_Front-thumb-250x477-11799.jpgWith camera phones like the recently announced iPhone 4S quickly and quietly approaching the capabilities and quality of point-and-shoot cameras, Steve’s Digicams has decided it’s time to make sure we’re covering the camera-phone market in a more in depth fashion.  Meaning, if our awesome readers and avid shutterbugs are trying to decide between a few different phones, why not click on over here to Steve’s to see which one actually takes great pictures?  Well, at least ones that don’t make you cringe — small steps, people!

With that in mind, in addition to the the terrific, comprehensive camera reviews you already love us for, you’ll see an increase in camera phone articles and preview tossed in for good measure.  This is one of those such articles.

Our friends over at LG were kind enough to tell us about their newest phones that also take good pictures and high definition video.  While we hope to have actual reviews for you sooner than later, here’s a quick look at four camera-phones — all currently available — you might want to consider when making your next smartphone purchase:

Our first camera-phone is available for our T-Mobile readers.  The G2x boasts an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, a 4.0 inch touch screen, full HD 1080p video recording, 8GB built in memory (expandable up to 32GB), Google Voice, Android 2.3, and DTS Ultra Mobile Sound.  Click here to read more and find out about pricing.
AT&T customers and 3D fans, the Thrill 4G might just be for you.  It features dual 5 megapixel cameras for stereoscopic 3D video recording at 720p.  In 2D, the phone takes 5 megapixel photos and captures 1080p HD video.  The Thrill 4G’s 4.3 inch touch screen is also a glasses-free 3D display, which can be used to watch your home movies or play 3D games.  The phone, via a mini-HDMI out, can also show off 3D movies on any 3DTV.  Click here to read more and find out about pricing.

The Revolution is the first camera-phone available on the Verizon 4G LTE network with Netflix streaming built right in.  It features a 5 megapixel still camera (capable of recording 720p HD video), a 3.2x digital zoom, Auto Focus, LED flash, and a 4.3 inch touch screen.  It also features a full HTML web browser, WiFi, and a plethora of other built in apps.  You can also pick up a wireless charging pad accessory. Click here to read more and find out about pricing.
While Sprint‘s LG Marquee doesn’t win the megapixel count awards, it does have a lot of nice camera features.  Beyond the 5.0 megapixel rear facing camera, it has 3x digital zoom, Macro Mode, 7 Scene Modes (Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Night, Night Portrait, Fireworks, and Sport), as well as custom white balance, ISO, and color effects.  Those are all nice, but the Marquee is super thin (0.36 inches deep) and features a 4.0 inch NOVA display — a display so bright it can be viewed in direct sunlight. Click here to read more and find out about pricing.
