According to the data provided by photo
digitization company ScanMyPhotos.com, fewer than 8 percent of all
photos taken have been digitized. That means there are trillions of
pictures floating around without any sort of backup. While scanned
versions of an old picture don’t retain the same sort of nostalgia,
having a backup is absolutely essential in case of floods, fires or
even theft.
ScanMyPhotos has also revealed that
around 40 percent of people they surveyed have never backed up the
data on their computer, which means that even those nicely preserved
digital copies could be lost. While the loss of these photos can be a
problem, it’s one that’s easily solved and easily prevented.
ScanMyPhotos recommends using the coming weekend as a time to get the
family together to dig through old photo books and find just what
pictures need to be saved for the future.
