Canon Announces Firmware Updates for the EOS 7D and WFT-EFA Wireless Transmitter

canon_eos7d_wft_550.jpgCanon has announced Firmware Version 2.0.0 for the EOS 7D, and it adds some nice features including increasing the number of photos that can be taken in a burst in continuous shooting mode using a fast memory card, which is something Sports Shooters will appreciate.

In addition, this Canon Firmware update added the ability to set a Maximum ISO Setting when using Auto ISO, improved the speed of scrolling through Thumbnails, added the ability to adjust sound recording levels manually, and added a lot of in camera processing features.

For example, Photographers can now process RAW files in Camera, rate images, and even resize images in camera. Canon also added support for a new GP-E2 GPS Receiver.
Even though the Firmware 2.0.0 update is mostly about adding new features to the EOS 7D (something that’s nice to see from a Camera Manufacturer), Canon also fixed some issues related to the Flash firing when slower shutter speeds were used, and corrected an issue with the way Color Space information was being recorded to the EXIF when shooting movies.

Canon also announced Firmware Version 1.0.7 for the WFT-EFA Wireless Transmitter. This Firmware update is needed so that it will function correctly with EOS 7D cameras that have been updated to Firmware Version 2.0.0
