Early this morning, Canon USA announced three new PowerShot cameras, the ELPH 510 HS, ELPH 310 HS, and the SX150 IS. All there models continue two very popular lines of PowerShot cameras, replacing models we saw earlier this year.
The ELPH 510 HS now holds the top of the line spot in the ELPH lineup, which was previously held by the ELPH 500 HS. The 510 boasts some new upgrades, the most interesting of which is a powerful 12x optical zoom lens. Other key features include a 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor, Canon’s HS (High Sensitivity) System, a 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD, Smart Auto, and full 1080p HD video recording. See our ELPH 510 HS Preview page for more details.
Next is the ELPH 310 HS. While quite a bit more compact than the 510 HS, the 310 HS still sports some impressive capabilities, thanks to it’s wide 8x optical zoom lens. This is twice the zoom compared to the 300 HS it replaces, giving you even more versatility, while still keeping the camera’s overall size about the same. The 310 HS also offers a 3.0-inch LCD screen, full 1080p HD video, a fast 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor, and Canon’s HS system. For more info on the ELPH 310 HS, see our Preview page.
Last, but not least, we have the PowerShot SX150 IS. This entry-level, super-zoom builds upon a line of popular SX-series models, like the SX130 IS. With 12-megapixels, a wide 12x optical zoom lens, Smart Auto, and various advanced shooting modes (like Aperture and Shutter speed priority), the SX150 is loaded with features that will appeal to a wide variety of shutterbugs. All this is packed in a somewhat compact shell, which offers a nice large 3.0-inch LCD screen, and a pop-up flash unit. To learn more, head on over to our PowerShot SX150 IS Preview page.
Be sure to check these pages often, as we’ll be updating each one to hands on review status once we get our hands one some cameras for evaluation.
Alongside the camera announcements, Canon unveiled two new All-In-One photo printers, and a new High-Power flash unit for use with PowerShot cameras. The Canon HF-DC2 High-Power Flash is a versatile accessory for any PowerShot camera, which allows you to extend the flash range of your camera up to about 30 feet. This is accomplished by the HF-DC2 firing in sync with the built-in flash on the camera. The HF-DC2 will start hitting shelves sometime in December (2011), for about $ 149 US.
The two new A-I-O photo printers include the PIXMA MG8220 and MG6220. Both focus on functionality, and affordability; making them perfect for the home, home-office, or small business. Each model is 802.11n Wi-Fi certified, and they use Canon’s ChromaLife 100+ ink system, which incorporates six individual ink cartridges. Canon has also created their Easy-PhotoPrint app, which allows you to print from your Android or Apple powered smart phone or tablet. They even offer “fun” in-printer filters, which allow you to alter the look of your photos before printing. Pretty slick stuff, and all this can be yours for only $ 299 for the MG8220, or $ 199 for the MG6220. For more details about these two new printers, see the official press release.
