DIY: Use Carbon Fiber Film to Protect and Style your Gear

Carbon Fiber.jpgWhether you’re looking to add a little bit of extra protection to your gear or simply add some style, a little carbon fiber will do the trick.

The tutorial written up by the folks at DIY Photography couldn’t be simpler. You’ll need scissors, the carbon fiber itself, and a heat gun or hair dryer. And of course you’ll need the thing you’re actually planning on putting the carbon fiber on. The tutorial shows how to apply it to a lens hood, but there are countless other applications.

If you want to go for the full-on automotive carbon fiber look, you’ll also need some clear lacquer spray paint, but keep in mind that this makes things even shiner and more likely to catch significant reflections.
