DxO Says Smartphone Image Quality Has Caught up to 2007’s Compact Cameras

It may not sound like much to offer
image quality above point-and-shoots from five years ago, but
considering the kind of shape cell phone cameras were in 2007, it’s
an impressive feat. After all, that’s the same year the original
iPhone launched with its 2MP camera.

In the video category, Smartphones are
actually quite impressive. The Samsung Galaxy StiII beats out the
Canon Powershot 100 by a decent margin. The new DxOMark Mobile is
designed to test the cameras on cell phones and will be bringing more
results in the near future.
