GoPro Announces HERO6 Black and Fusion Cameras!

The GoPro HERO6 Black is finally here… and you can buy it right now for only $ 499.00.

GoPro came out of nowhere in 2004 when Nick Woodman, a man who knew nothing about cameras or camera tech, developed the original GoPro, a small, rugged, life-proof action camera that the industry didn’t think they had a need for.

Thirteen years later and not only is GoPro still around, it’s become an eponym like Kleenex or Xerox. Anytime someone thinks of a small action camera or a camera they can fit in a tight spot they just say “stick a GoPro in there.” But times have changed and GoPro isn’t the only name on the block. Now many of the big names like Sony have their own version of an action camera too. Innovation breeds competition. No one wants to take a risk on something until they can see that they can actually make money on it.

The question remains as to whether GoPro will stay on top of the action cam market, but with today’s new product announcements, they’re clearly evolving and innovating to stay one step ahead of the competition…

HERO6 BLACK

GoPro says that all the innovative tech that’s inside the GoPro HERO5 is still there, only it’s better. It’s rugged and waterproof out of the box to 33 feet. It has GPS, a 2-inch LCD touchscreen on the back, voice controls, and limited instant-offloading and instant-editing features. Not to mention you can shoot 4K at up to 60fps, 2.7K at up to 120fps, and 1080p HD at up to 240fps for ultra slow motion.

But the big news is the HERO6’s custom GP1 processor, which should deliver twice the performance as well as improved image quality, dynamic range, image stabilization, and low-light performance. The GP1 should also speed up in-camera editing as well as voice commands.

This package saves you about $ 200 versus buying the camera, drone, and grip separately.

FUSION

GroPro’s second announcement today — the Fusion — is the opposite of the very first GoPro camera. Instead of innovating, they too now are trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Recognizing a new trend with 360-degree cameras filling the landscape of action cams, GoPro is not to be outdone. Though not available until November and priced at a higher $ 699, the Fusion camera looks to be an incredible piece of technology with stats like:
