Phones, tablets and other mobile
devices are getting increasingly sophisticated when it comes to photo
and video capture. As a response to these increased capabilities,
Lexar has created microSDHC and microSDXC UHS-I cards.
The new cards are capable of transfer
speeds of up to 45MB per second and come in sizes of 32GB and 64GB.
The creation of such small but speedy cards was an in-depth process,
as Lexar VP Wes Brewer explains.
“The design of our new 64GB microSDXC
card was made possible by utilising Micron’s newest, 64Gbit, 20nm
process technology NAND flash memory,” says Brewer. “Together
with creative die-stacking techniques and uniquely engineered
firmware in our UHS-I capable controller, Lexar was able to design
and produce this product at the 300x performance level to meet the
needs of our customers.”
The new cards are due out in the fourth
quarter of 2012.
