SLRs typically offer the highest level of performance and control a photographer can ask for, at a higher price. These cameras use mirrored through-the-lens viewing systems (though some offer Live View shooting through the LCD), and feature interchangeable lenses.
SLR include very large, high-resolution light sensors which can produce brighter, sharper and cleaner images and more accurate color reproduction; a fast response and recycling time, that allows capturing bursts of images at speeds of 10 frames per second or more; and more accurate auto focus.
