Nikon Unveils New Flagship dSLR; the Nikon D4

nikon_large_D4_50_1.4_front_750.jpgNikon has finally announced the replacement to the D3/D3s with the introduction of the D4. This is a professional level dSLR that is aimed at those who make a living with their equipment; or those who just have a plentiful hobby fund. The D4 offers some impressive upgrades over past models, with Nikon promising “a new apex of speed and accuracy with unparalleled image quality, low-light capability and Full HD video.”.

If the Nikon D4’s specifications list doesn’t make you salivate; something is wrong with your salivary glands. The new flagship model boasts a 16-megapixel full frame (FX-format) CMOS image sensor, their EXPEED 3 processor, an upgraded 51-point AF system, a robust 91,000 pixel metering sensor, burst shooting at up to 10fps with AF/AE or 11fps with AF/AE locked, and much more. All this can be had for approx. $ 5,999.95 USD for the body only, which should be available late next month.

Check out our Nikon D4 preview page for more details, along with additional product views. We’ll update this page once we get a D4 in for testing.
