Panasonic Announces Two New Micro Four Thirds Lenses

Panasonic has just released two new lenses, designed for use with their Micro Four Thirds Lumix cameras; like the new DMC-GF7. The new offerings include the Lumix G 30mm MACRO lens and the Lumix G 42.5mm Portrait lens.

The 42.5mm Portrait offers an equivalent focal length of 85mm (perfect for portraiture photography), along with a fast maximum aperture of f/1.7 and their POWER O.I.S. system.

The 30mm MACRO offers a minimum focus distance of 4.13 inches from the front of the lens, as well as a 60mm equivalent focal length, f/2.8 maximum aperture, and their proven MEGA O.I.S. system.

Newark, NJ (February 23, 2015) Panasonic today announced the new LUMIX G 42.5mm/F1.7 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) (equivalent: 85 mm) and the LUMIX G Macro 30mm/ F2.8 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. (equivalent: 60mm) lenses. Both will beavailable at www.shop.panasonic.com and valued channel partners.

The LUMIX G 42.5mm/F1.7 not only has a maximum aperture of F1.7, but incorporates optical image stabilization along with full time Auto Focus (AF). The new lens system is comprised of 10 elements in 8 groups can deliver portraits with a rich stereoscopic effect as well as close-ups with beautiful defocus. It features a versatile focusing distance of 12.2 inches allowing users to enjoy true-to-life close-up shots such as food photography. A reliable metal mount assures durability for active use, and uses multi-coated lens elements that minimize ghosts and flare to further enhance its shooting performance. The lens’ POWER O.I.S. system effectively compensates unwanted blur caused by vibration – not only small, fast movements but also large, slow ones – helping you get the results you want, even in low light situations. The POWER O.I.S system, alongside the 240fps Drive AF, delivers stable framing and precise focusing every time.

The LUMIX G MACRO 30mm/ F2.8 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. lens provides sharp, high contrast image rendering with a wide angle and a high speed F2.8 aperture. Utilizing 1x life-size magnification, deep depth of field, and a focusing distance starting at just 4.13 inches, the lens offers excellent performance when shooting true-to-life macro shots.

A durable and reliable metal mount means the lens is perfectly suited for day-to-day use, while the multi-coated lens elements minimize ghosting and flaring to further enhance shooting performance. With a 240 fps Drive AF and MEGA O.I.S., comprised of 9 lenses in 9 groups including an aspherical lens you can achieve fast, accurate focusing and stable framing with every shot.

The 30mm Macro will be available in April and the 42.5mm in May at valued channel partners and at panasonic.com.
