Sigma Announces “Spirit of the Games” Photo Competition

Sigma_olympics_banner_2.jpgAs
most of you already know, the festivities for the 2012 Summer
Olympics in the United Kingdom are already underway; complete with
the Olympic Torch being carried by athletes as part of the official
Torch Relay. A number of other events are also underway in advance
of the Games, including welcoming festivities for competing athletes,
and much more.

With
only a few days to go before this summer’s Olympics are officially
underway, with London’s Big Ben ringing in start of the
games this Friday, July 27th, Sigma in the U.K. has announced that it’s holding a “Spirit of the
Games” Photography Competition; that’s free to enter with some big
prizes.

This
competition will run from July 28th to August 3rd, and photographers
are invited to submit up to five of their images capturing the Spirit
of the Games.

The
overall winner will receive a Sigma SD1 Merriil system including the
17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Lens. Sigma will also enter 20 runner up
winners into a Facebook competition to win a new Sigma DP2 Merrill.

Because
of some restrictions that photographers may find in place banning
taking photos at some Olympic Events, Sigma is inviting you to submit
pictures showing the people and atmosphere outside of the Arenas,
combined with local sporting events, so that they can find photos
capturing the Spirit of the Games, even if they’re not of the actual
Olympic Events. So, Sigma is asking photographers entering this
competition to make sure they meet the terms and conditions of their
event tickets.
