Tamron Announces a Full-Size High-Speed Telephoto with VC and USD

Tamron 70-200.pngTamron boasts that the SP 70-200mm
F/2.8 Di VC USD currently in development at the company is the most
compact in its class. The lens comes equipped with one Extra Low
Dispersion
glass element and four Low Dispersion elements, along with a new
high-contrast high-resolution optical design. Tamron has also added
multi-layer coating to help stop flare and ghosting.

Of course, that’s not all there is to
the SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD. As you might notice from the
initials appending the name, the new telephoto offers up Vibration
Compensation
using a moving coil method. It also packs Tamron’s
ultrasonic motor to power an autofocus that’s both fast and quiet. And, with a fast f/2.8 aperture, you’ll be able to produce pleasing bokeh effect, as well as increase your efficiency in low lighting situations.

Tamron’s 70-100mm telephoto will be
shipping by the end of the year, in Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts.
The Sony version will lack image stabilization, since Sony dSLRs offer SteadyShot IS in the body itself. Pricing information yet to be
announced.
