Michihiro Yamaki may not be a household name, but the company he made is well known to photographers all over the world.
51 years ago, Yamaki founded the Sigma corporation. Just 27 years old, the young entrepreneur introduced the first attached lens converter to the market. Michihiro Yamaki also served with other organizations throughout the years, and earned impressive awards and accolades from the PMDA, IPC and others.
“We are deeply saddened by this loss,” says Sigma company president Mark Amir-Hamzeh. “Mr. Yamaki was an industry visionary, and his leadership and enthusiasm has been the driving force behind our company’s innovation for more than 50 years. We’re sending our deepest condolences to the Yamaki family, and our entire Sigma family around the world, during this very difficult time.”
