Your 14fps shooting speed and 120Hz capture rate are neat and all, but researchers at MIT have you beat. Their new camera is capable of a trillion frames a second. That’s one with twelve zeros behind it; Per second!
To show off their new tech, they’ve made a YouTube video briefly explaining the concept and then showing a laser passing through an object – skip to 1:40 for the demonstration. It’s pretty remarkable. Capturing the movement of light on film is something we’ve never been able to do before and this tech will certainly create more opportunities for scientific advancement moving forward.
