Samsung’s Galaxy Camera is a big step
in the evolution of what cameras will be like in the future, and its
successes and failures will tell us a lot about what might be in
store for us. One thing that could be marked down as a failure is the
camera’s required data plan. Needing a 3G or 4G plan raises the
price of the camera significantly.
The folks at Samsung have compensated
by creating a Wi-Fi only version. The current 3G/4G version of the
camera runs $ 500, so you can expect to see the Wi-Fi version to come
in slightly cheaper. It should also be easier to acquire – no need to go
through a phone provider if you’re not using data.
Samsung has not yet revealed specifics
on pricing or availability.
