Sony Will Increase Sensor Production by 50 Percent

sony_logo_550.jpgThe folks at Sony are doing incredibly well in the sensor department. They’re selling sensors for cell phones like crazy, but also for the cameras of other manufacturers. They’re doing so well, in fact, that they’re going to be raising production significantly.

The original plan by Sony was to boost production up to a whopping 50,000 sensors a month. That increase has been multiplied to a grand total of 75,000 sensors a month – 900,000 a year. The company is hoping to hit that goal by March 2014 at the latest.

Sony has been ramping up production pretty significantly already this year. They launched a fourth COMS sensor line in their Nagasaki plant on Monday, shortly following the addition of a third in October.
