Olympus has announced new Version 3.1 Firmware for the Olympus OM-D E-M1, and new Version 1.2 Firmware for the OM-D E-M5 Mark II, which will be available in June. They’ve also announced a Limited Edition OM-D E-M5 Mark II Kit.
For the OM-D E-M1, a new Underwater Picture Mode in the Firmware will allow the user to adjust aperture and shutter speed operations, ensuring underwater photos with a better balance of vivid colors and natural underwater blue tones. LV (Live View) Boost II will also be added to the OM-D E-M1 to assist with star scape photography. Night vision performance is also improved for sharper images of even dark subjects such as stars on the Live View screen. LV Boost can be assigned for each function such as Live Composite and M mode.
Also available in June will be a new Version 1.2 Firmware Update for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II that will include the same Underwater Picture Mode being added to the OMD E-M1 to allow users to capture better underwater photos. The Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II already has the LV Boost II features being added to the E-M1, so no new Firmware is needed to use it with the OM-D OM-5 Mark II.
Olympus also announced a dedicated underwater case for E-M1 (the PT-EP11), withstanding water pressure to a depth of 45m.
Even more interesting is that Olympus that the OM-D E-M5 Mark II with be available in Titanium color via Limited Edition Kits that will be limited to 7000 total kits worldwide.
The kit will include the OM-D E-M5 Mark II in the same unique titanium body color as the SLR film camera OM-3T/Ti (1994), a specially crafted leather strap, a leather card case and owner’s card numbered from 1 to 7,000, to authenticate that it is a limited edition.
